This project required the dismantling and demolition of the iconic 35,000-seater Premier League football stadium, including the removal of asbestos and all foundations and obstructions.
The complex contract programme of work comprised dismantling of the cantilevered football stands and the removal of massive steel sections in a controlled environment, as well as the demolition of stand structures and the removal of extensive foundations. The site was within a residential area and directly adjacent and overhanging the local church, which required detailed planning and execution of the demolition operations.
The demolished brick and concrete was recycled and re-used in the new development and the contract was completed on time and within the original budget.
